Almost 9-10% of adult population in India suffer from DM and it is more prevalent in south India and in urban population. Diabetes can be transient (Gestational Diabetes and Prediabetes) or chronic (Type I and Type II Diabetes) in which the cells are unable to utilize sugar from the blood leading to high blood sugar levels.
